Great Northeast Florida Attractions

Lightner Museum - FloridaThe Great Northeast Florida has an array of attractions. Whether you like history or relaxing on the beach or even just strolling around town, Northeast Florida has so much to offer—from the lighthouse to museums to historic downtown St. Augustine.

The Lightner Museum

The Lightner Museum was the former Alcazar Hotel, which was built in 1887. A Chicago publisher named Otto C. Lightner, bought the old hotel to house his enormous collection of Victorian antiques, paintings, cut glass, furniture etc.

Here are some of his collections that are displayed in the museum:

19th Century European, neo-classical rocking chair with beautiful carvings.

Malachite urn and pedestal dated 1830.

Tiffany butterfly lamp, from the early 20th Century, USA.

If you are fascinated with antique furnishings and early art glass collection, make sure to stop by the Lightner Museum in downtown St. Augustine, Northeast, Florida. You will not be disappointed.

Amelia Island

If you are planning to have a romantic getaway with that special someone in your life, the Amelia Island is the perfect place to be. It’s a 13 miles stretch of golden beaches.

Watching the sunrise at the Amelia Island is an unbelievable experience .It was breathtaking and the sound of the water was calming and peaceful. Stay in one of the island’s finest resorts or stay in one of Fernandina’s Beach’s Victorian Inn.

Jacksonville Museum of Science and History

If you are looking for stuff to do with the kids, take them to Jacksonville Museum of science and History. It’ll be fun for the whole family, and educational at the same time.

Inside the museum you’ll find pre-historic exhibits, marine life, gardens and interactive activities where kids can engage in laboratories experiments. They also have a planetarium inside. I’m pretty sure this one is a hit for the kids.
