Great Florida Beaches

Clearwater Beach - FloridaFlorida has the best beaches in the nation—from bird watching at Fort De Soto Park North Beach to playing volleyball with friends on Clearwater beach.

Here are a few of the great beaches in Florida.

St. Pete and Clearwater Beaches

If you like playing volleyball with friends, the St Pete and Clearwater Beaches is the place for you to show off your moves. The weather is perfect for barefoot volleying year-round. The nets are already set-up down on the beach as St. Pete and Clearwater Beaches host major volleyball tournaments.

Fort De Soto Park North Beach

Located near St. Petersburg, Florida, the Fort De Soto Park’s North Beach was ranked as the #1 beach in the nation in 2005 by Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman also known as Dr. Beach, an environmental studies professor at the Florida International University in Miami.

Fort De Soto Park offers miles of white sand beach, a 105-year-old historic Fort, campsites, fishing, bird watching, an almost seven-mile recreation trail, canoeing, kayaking and even a dog park for your four-legged friend to roam around.

The campsites offer many amenities, such as modern bathrooms, showers and laundry rooms. The whole family will enjoy this picnic area.

Thanks to the management and the eco-friendly people visiting the park, this beach is one of the cleanest in the nation. It’s really a jewel to treasure.

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park

Located in Biscayne, Florida, the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is the home of the oldest building in South Florida. The lighthouse was built in 1825 and served as a navigational aid. The lighthouse is 95-feet tall and has 109 spiral steps. You can view the busy Atlantic and Biscayne waterfront from up top. A tour of the Keeper’s Quarters is available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday through Monday.

Aside from the lighthouse, Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park also offers a lot of recreational activities, such as shoreline fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, bicycling, hiking, wildlife viewing, and an 18-picnic pavilion area.

The park offers 1.25-miles of white sands waterfront. Swimming in the Atlantic and the Biscayne Bay is available all year long.

Also, Cape Florida is a part of a large barrier island ecosystem.

Go for the beaches and parks

For me, Florida’s exceptional beaches and state parks are major reasons why millions of visitors enjoy the Sunshine State from all over the world every year.
